Hi folks, today is the start of my SFG life. Smile
Bought some seeds yesterday and some more today and will start constructing the boxes.
I'll have 6 boxes, as I also want to make things to freeze down for winter and the kids (2) also want to have a box.
I know 6 boxes gives far too much, but I can always put it outside the fence and sell it to passers by.
Besides that, there also will be a lot of flowers in the boxes.

We had quiet some winter this year. Record breaking again. Snow is still around many places. Even the spot, where I will have my boxes is covered with snow.
But OK, I will start inside anyway, so there is time for the sun to do his job.

I also continued the reed work on my roof (see my site), as they promise a rain-less (and snow-less) week. Hello from a Dutchman in Denmark Icon_sunny

I have the impresssion that sfg is not known here in dk. Have been looking around on websites and didn't find any. But maybe....I have have colleagues anyway.

Nice to meet some Dutch though. They just are all over the place. Hello from a Dutchman in Denmark Icon_biggrin

Hi Smitan,

Welcome to the forum. " today is the start of my SFG life. Smile" A SFG birthday!
I kinda like that idea, thanks.

You're right, fresh veggies from the garden never go to waste. I tend to overplant so that if the summer weather is poor I can still get enough to put up. But if the summer weather is really good, I can hardly give it away fast enough.

I believe you're the first Dutchman to join the forum. Glad to have you here, and be sure to ask questions, we all learn from them one way or another.

That was a trick post! Hello from a Dutchman in Denmark Icon_redface Danes are in Denmark, Dutchmen are in Holland and Netherlands, what are you doing up there anyway?!!!

You're right, I stand corrected. mroos/mirjam has posted in the general forum. Until recently though the majority of European posting has been in the Dutch language, that I can't read.

Hello from a Dutchman in Denmark Empty Welcome!

Post  LaFee 3/10/2010, 4:00 pm

Welcome, Hans -- I'm a transplant, too (American living in France) -- so hopefully we will all bloom where we are planted!

We've had a really cold spell this week -- has stopped all my gardening as it's too cold to get much done (my fingers get so cold and stiff I can't do anything) But we're supposed to be back to about 10 by the weekend, so I'm hoping to get my boxes built.

I found fantastic wooden garden borders 1,2m long x 20cm high (that's 4 feet long and 8" high for the Americans reading!) -- so I will have one big box 2,4m long and 1,2m wide -- that should be enough space to keep all of us eating like rabbits this summer and hopefully some to preserve. (Homemade salsa, anyone?) I have a very sunny patch with plenty of room to access it from all sides...so I'm crossing my cold, stiff fingers that everything will grow well.
