I am hoping to convince my parish to utilize a very large, sunny front yard as a small parish garden using the square foot method.  They are a tough group to sell so we will be starting next Spring with a vertical pumpkin patch.  Does anyone have any good pictures of a pvc and string trellis with the vines and pumpkins?

I can highly recommend the cattle panel arch.  The cattle panel was only $19.95 at Tractor Supply, for a 16' X 4' section.  The plants can climb up one side and back down, or use it for two beds, both climbing up an 8' section.  I have watermelon, cantaloupe and cucumber on two of my cattle panel arches, but they are not big enough to be impressive yet.  I looked on the web for you and found a few.  The first one is not pumpkin, but same concept.

This is the most impressive picture I have ever seen of a vertical garden.

This one is another neat idea from the web.

Here are a couple pictures of my cattle panel arches.

This is the latest one, with cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupe and tomatoes growing up the arches.

This is my cucumbers, just before I found my first cuke today.

This is an earlier pic of my arches, covering one 3' bed and a 3' path, crossing over to a 2nd bed.  Works great with a covered path for the grand kids to run through.

Cattle panel between 2 tabletops.  Cukes on one side,  tomatoes on the other and a pumpkin vine through the middle.  Pumpkin wasn't planned, but I was given 2 plants.  All I had left for planting space were 2 flower troughs, so this is a rather rigged up thing.  Next year maybe I'll try for real.

The other plant didn't get very big and was only strung over to a pvc hoop.  But it had a nice Jack o Lantern pumpkin that I rested up onto a small flower pot.

These pictures are a about 3 weeks old.  The single pumpkin is totally orange now and the hanging ones are turning about the same color as the pictures. The leaves are turning yellow and brown and I've trimmed off a lot. Got another female flower on the little vine but it hasn't opened yet. There are several male flowers on the cattle panel vine.

I just couldn't visualize pumpkins on a trellis so these pictures are great!  I meant to get my pumpkins onto a trelllis of some sort
but hadn't gotten to it.  Now they are too big, taking over the ground outside the bed.  I don't think I dare try to trellis them now!  Next year is good!  A question, for pumpkins do you have to give them a hammock or something for support?  It doesn't look like any have them.  I know you need it for cantaloupe.

That is really cool looking, walshevak! And what a great idea, to put the arch on tabletops so everything is super-easy to pick and train. I think you've come up with a new candidate for my "fantasy gardening set-up."

The two cantaloupe plants each have 1 green fruit. The one on the left has 2 small ones that may or may not make it. The ladder is so I can climb up and pollinate female flowers that are on the 8' high horizontal boards. A lot of pollinating for these two cantaloupes (plus maybe 2)!!
