thanks everyone...hoping for some badly needed rain over the weekend here in the kansas city area so the harvest will continue through the heat of hte summer.  One thing I've been noticing is my tomatoes trained on a trellis are getting badly sun-scalded...tomatoes done old-school (caged) are doing much better with the additional shade extra leaves provide.

I'll try to post some pics of salsa-making tomorrow.

I have a spot in a community garden...not a single tomato at my home SFG has ripened yet other than cherry-types.  Maybe in a few days.

The community garden has six bee hives...and the pollination those bees do makes the tomatoes and cukes abundant (way more production than at my home garden).

I'm jealous. I got a late start this year so tomatoes are just starting to come in, so salsas just around the corner.  One of my favorite recipes is a clone recipe from a salsa from Baja Fresh of all places. They call it molcajete (I'm sure you can find the clone on google) and everything is grilled until you get char marks before blending. Delicious.

I did roasted pepper and sweet corn salsa last year...put them on the Weber grill and added some hickory chips...made really tasty salsa.

mmmmm, farmer ray does that with all the salsa ingredients (except the cilantro, garlic and lime). Wonderful, smoky salsa. He just uses the recipe that came with the food processor. The only change he makes is to smoke-grill the tomatoes, peppers and sweet onions before blending them up. The tomato juice caramelizes. An amazing summer treat!
