Dormant plants

This is my first SFG year and I've been patient waiting for the hot weather to kick in, but I'm disappointed at the lack of growth of both my cool weather and now hot weather veggies. My MM was as recommended; I had 5 sources of compost from Lowes and Home depot, vermiculite and peat moss in 33% ratios and my garden has plenty of water on a automated drip system... the soil is always moist. My plants are alive but haven't flourished. My tomato plants still look like the greenhouse seedlings I started, my eggplant and squash are still short. My radishes gave me a few offering before they went to flower and I got no beets after an encouraging start. The only crop I harvested was some sugar snaps.

I started supplementing my watering with some worm tea I just now am able to collect. Any other thoughts?

I did not have great luck with Mels Mix fy first year...my purchased compost was of poor quality...which I think is a problem for many people. My plants were yellow and stunted compared to veggies growing in non-Mels Mix.

I added organic fertilizer over a period of time (buffalo loam compost tea, fish emulsion, and chickity-doo-doo) and the garden did well.

Go ahead and start your own compost pile for use in fall gardening and next year...you will see a big difference between purchased bagged comost vs. home-made.

I am aggresively composting and have the worm farm cooking away. I have also added some organic compost hoping for a recovery. Thanks!!

I would tend to agree, my mels mix garden seems to require a lot of supplementation. I also did the 5 types of compost and mixed everything as instructed, but my garden never came close to the other garden. Beets are another total story.
In the end of my first year, the tomatoes did very well with lots of added extra compost. everything else was a loss, so I am on my second year now
