Hi Guys and Gals
I have had a change around in the garden. Moved everything around. Tried to get all my veggies and fruit bits/ beds TT's e.t.c in one place. The problem now is I'm short of space (Yeah I know were all short of space when it comes to growing:lol: )

I need your wisdom. What compost bins or tumblers would you choose to buy and why?. I have a darlic type bin. Big and round and ugly - but useful. Cool

I need something a bit smaller, that works quicker if thats possible:studious: thanks

Why buy anything, can't you just build a pile on the ground? If you are required to contain the compost, I have found that chicken fencing around metal posts works very well.

Minimum dimension for a ground pile to work efficiently is 3'x3'x3'.  Frenchbean said he wants something smaller than a darlic type bin and that works more quickly.  So piling it on the ground isn't a solution.  Especially since it seems they just spent a good amount of time and effort re-organizing their garden space (and commented that the darlic is ugly) and are therefore probably into the aesthetics of the space as well as the efficiency.

I know our admin Rooster has a tumbler type composter that he referred to as a composting machine - churning out useable compost in just a couple of weeks.  Perhaps he'll be along and can tell you what type he has.  Of course, with those you do have to have a separate pile that you load from.

I have had success with even smaller dimension of 2x2x2. I made the little bin out of one pallet. It works if you need it to.
