My Garden is dying...HELP?!?!?
This is my first time gardening and I have a few people in my family who garden but they all tell me something different. My aunt gave me some nitrous to put in my garden and when I did my green beans, broccoli, lettuce, and cucumber plants died. My corn is growing strong but everything else looks like its just tired and wore out. Can I do anything to save my plants?

Welcome to the SFG Forum. Are you currently using the Square FOot Gardening method, with Mel's mix?

I am new here I didn't realize there was a gardening mix! Do you think it is too late to use Mel's Mix?

I agree with Camprn, we need to know what is in your growing medium, soil mix? What is nitrous - brand name or some clue? Can you take pictures and post to the forum so we can see what your damaged plants look like.
Although we will try to help any fellow gardener, this forum is mainly to encourage the use of the growing method as written in the book, ALL NEW SQUAREFOOT GARDENING.

Mels Mix is a mix of 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 of a blend of 5 or more composts. A premixed version is being sold through Lowes, but I haven't seen it in any of the stores in our area. Most of us have to make our own.

I first want to say welcome to a wonderful community of gardeners. A way to fix you plants since this season has already started is to add compost from at least 5 different sources. That should help get you through this season so that over the winter you can fix the growing medium for next year. I highly recommend reading the 2nd edition of All New Square Footing Gardening by Mel Bartholomew. I know that the public libraries here have copies if you can't afford on right now. Please post pictures so we can see if it might be a bugs or something other than the growing medium causing the plants to die.
