Lots of rain and no sun - advice? Empty Lots of rain and no sun - advice?

I am only in my second year of sfg (actually gardening at all) and I planted my early crops almost three weeks ago. This was followed by the worst weather (I live outside of Chicago). About 10 days of little to no sun, followed by heavy heavy rain with still no sun. So, 20 days in - I have finally started to see my sugar snap peas peeking through as well as some lettuce. Should I let it go - will they be damaged? Also, what about the chard and carrots that I planted and haven't seen any sign of? Do I assume, they aren't coming though, or do I let it go? I don't want to waste too much time, and could really use some experienced advice! The forecast for the next several days - 60's and 70's and sunny - finally, but is it too little too late?

Your peas will be just fine, they are very hardy. The chard should survive as it is very hardy too. I have very similar growing conditions and both vegetables are durable. I don't know about the carrots. There are several people on the forum that are very successful with carrots and I am sure they will post something. Happy Gardening!

I planted peas a month ago...then we had two big snowstorms (15" and 9"). They are finally about 3" tall, enduring the gail, wind, rain, etc. It just seems like peas take forever and some years they do ok, and some years they do nothing. Now if I can only keep the rabbits away.

My carrots and beets have germinated and are doing just fine...lettuce not so good...and zero luck on my radishes.

Kateh,
peas will be fine, they like it cold and wet. Carrots, well, they like to be right on top of the mm, and the heavy rains may have buried the seed. They may come up later when the seed gets some light. I think I'd put some more seed out. Most everything should be up and growing after 3 weeks.
