Botanical Gardens at Booth Bay

My niece will be starting a new job in May, working at the visitor center of the Botanical Gardens in Booth Bay, Maine. Have any of you been there? She and her dad were up there last week to look for housing (she is from Baltimore). She found a neat little cabin on an island where she will have a yard and can do some container gardening. Any ideas? She will only be there for 6 months, so she can't get too elaborate. I know Burpee has a garden area at the park, but I don't know if it has both flowers and veggies. I'm sure she will want some herbs, and maybe some catnip for her two cats, but I'm not sure what veggies she will want. She has been a picky eater in the past, but has been getting better since she has gotten older.
