Mix in the box today!!!
Mixed up the mix today and into the box it went. I used 3/4" plywood for the bottom so I installed wheels under it so I can get the best place in the sun when I find out where it is. Any reason why I shouldn't keep it covered with a blue tarp for now to keep the cats out until I get my fence up? Misting the mix is only to keep the dust down when working with it correct? jjc

Re: Mix in the box today!!!
Yes you can cover with a tarp for now, no problem. Cats do love SFG boxes!
Misting during mixing is indeed to keep the dust down, and also helps to get the mix saturated. It can be pretty difficult to get your mix wet initially - peat and vermiculite soak up a lot of water. So those of us who've made it before recommend watering it in a layer at a time as you fill your box.
