Hello from Central Florida
I've recently moved to central Florida from Western Massachusetts. I plan to do some raised bed gardening and it was suggested by one of your members that I join up with this group. It will be interesting unlearning gardening techniques and learning new ones which will work in this new environment.

Re: Hello from Central Florida
Hi Charm... welcome to the Sunshine State! I'm in central FL also. This is my first year doing SFG as well and this forum is very helpful. You can start planting in FL now actually. I've learned that spring and fall crops do very well in FL due to our mild climates. The full, hot, summer sun and humidity can take it's toll on many crops, so the summers are actually the most challenging down here. Spring and fall are the easier seasons.
If you have questions, ask away! There are plenty of knowledgeable people here eager to help.

Re: Hello from Central Florida
Welcome to the forum Charming. Its nice to see another new Fla gardener. I hope to join your region when my family moves there in 2014 but for now, I've got to suffer the cold and snow of Maine.
I know there are many southern gardeners on this forum that will help you with questions so just jump right in.
It might help you to type in a word in the search engine in the left column, at the top. Then you can read up on a particular need and maybe find your answer. There have been many helpful southern growing threads in the past.
I would also suggest looking up Square Foot Gardening on utube and watch the videos you'll find there. Its a fun way to learn.
I hope you enjoy Florida growing.

Charming.....check your PMs above. The green bar at the top should be flashing on the letters P.M. so just click on it.
