Hi!! From the Space Coast area. Name here is John. I have the first few books of SFG plus the new version. I started many years ago but took a long break. I love the method of SFG along with container gardening. Have had people ask me why I use containers for vegies. They were surprised when I told them they can plant anything is containers. It parallels SFG. The first time I did my SFG, the neighbors loved my garden. I had problems with carrots and corn at first but am trying carrots again as corn doesn't grow well in my area. The Zucchini and the cukes were my best crop.

I will be retiring at the end of the month so am getting a head start on an old hobby. I have two 16 foot gardens and need a few more frames for all the seeds I bought. I bought enough seeds to keep me off the streets. I think it is interesting when we can buy seeds from $.50 cents to $2 and save about $40-$100 on the vegies that we buy from the store. And growing your own is less contaminated from chemicals and taste better too.

john, welcome to the forums!

i look forward to learning from you - you have experience in sfg which is awesome!

this is second year sfg'ing for me, and i must admit, i think i am converting my neighborhood - esp since i've been HARVESTING from my garden (zone 5b) since second week of march. nothing like home grown produce.

we're hooked on this style big time here - and plan on expanding significantly our boxes this year - we have the materials, just need more hours in the day to get it built. planting and harvesting and caring for the garden just takes minutes. Smile

again welcome and pls do post in the other forums - i look forward to learning from experienced gardeners!

Thanks for the welcome. I'll have a picture later of what not to plant in a SFG.
