Hello from Iowa. Even though it is -5 degrees F outside right now, I am still planning the garden for this season. We started our SFG this past year with an 8' x 4' bed with mixed results. We are going to add another 8' x 4' bed this year, plus some sort of watering system and rain barrels.

Yesterday, I posted in the DIY section with questions about the watering system, so if you get a chance, stop there and throw in your 2 cents about which system - soaker hose vs grid watering system - would be better.

Welcome to the forum opnorty. I can't help you on the watering systems because I water by hand.
I wish you better luck this year. It gets easier as you learn more.
