I receive this info from Gardenate.com
Go there and find what they have to say about your zone... I think you just enter your zip code. They'll send reminders as often as you request. Great stuff!

You have all that growing while my garden is going to sleep for the Winter. Is that fair? I'll have to start up my indoor Square Inch Garden (SIG) for microgreens.

Well, I do have to tend 12 months of the year, including making compost for both spring and fall. Wink I'm down to about 4 1/2 cubic feet of compost left. Sad

Just finished cleaning, amending and putting to bed for the winter the last three 2x4' beds. Also, emptied the red wiggler worm tubes and spread the castings around those beds. Still have to pull the tomatoes from their buckets and spread manure on the BTE strip. Back to work. tongue

I planted 3 kinds of cucumbers, sprouting broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, and kale, today. I also replanted peas along the back of the "salad bar." I tried an experiment and dug down through the leaf mulch to plant some of them. It will be interesting to see if they can poke up all the way through. geek

My planting for 2017 is complete! cheers I transplanted kale, Brussels sprouts, and sprouting broccoli into the "Salad Bar." I transplanted 3 kinds of cukes in the house and greenhouse, and I just told a lie. I forgot that I still have to dig up some zinnias for the caterpillars, but that will wait until next week. Many seeds have a temperature range where they are activated to sprout.  If it's too hot or too cold they wait for better conditions.  They also often do not sprout when days are getting shorter.  They will become activated when the days begin getting longer and the temps rise.

I started everything inside in Jiffy pots on a warming pad under grow lights. The cukes will stay inside, but the kale, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli are now outside. I didn't wait for "true leaves" because my lighting is weak and they were already getting leggy, so I figured they were better off outside.

The last seeds I planted directly into the raised beds were sugar snap peas. About 40% sprouted. I just replanted a few days ago. I also direct planted some kale and broccoli a few weeks ago that never sprouted. Sad

November is half over and I'm just now getting around to bump this.

One of the nice things about California, is that a gardener can grow year around. The down side is that we aren't forced to take a rest from gardening like our northern friends. At this time, anything from the cabbage family like, well, cabbage, and broccoli, Brussel's Spouts, and cauliflower does great during the winter with a tulle / netting over the beds to protect them from the white cabbage butterfly. They survive easily down to 28*F needing freeze protection only during hard freezes. Also great for this time of the year are Swiss chard, bok choy, radishes, beets, parsnips, carrots, lettuce, walking onions, New Zealand spinach and of course, garlic which should be in the ground by now.

You can scroll up to see what Gardenate.com recommends for 9A. If your Zone is different, you can go to gardenate.com and change to your zone.

How are you garden peas coming along.  I have begun to harvest my Strike peas but they are not as prolific as they have been in the past.  Maybe older seeds or planting in a bed that has never grown peas before and I do not use an innoculant.??

The pea pods are growing. When the sun is behind the plant, I can see the baby peas! The ones with trellis netting are standing up better than the ones that I was late adding the baby metal fencing. The plants in that 2'x3' bed are compacted into a 2'x1.5' area. tongue I need to update in a CA thread.
