Cruise Cut Short By Hurricane Sandy!
Hubby & I just arrived home from a cruise (Carnival Pride) cut short by Hurricane Sandy. We got into Baltimore on Saturday afternoon instead of the planned Sunday morning. Our first stop was Grand Turk and we could see TS Sandy coming up.
They had to cancel the other two stops and run back to B-more as quickly as possible. We rolled and pitched and I feel sorry for anyone who was cruising for the first time or who was affected by sea sickness
Life is best viewed between sandy toes - Grand Turk:
TS Sandy is approaching. Look at the color of the sky . . . even the fake whale doesn't like it:
You can see the rain storm we passed through as we headed at warp speed back to Baltimore. As you can see, on this trip we had a different version of 50 Shades of Gray:
We're back home now waiting for Sandy 2.0.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Oh wow, that must have been a bit scary but I'm glad you didn't have to cut your trip even shorter, a half a day isn't too much considering! Wonderful pics and glad you are safe! Cute toes!

I have a friend sailing out of Jax this week and they were worried about whether they would be going or not. So far they haven't been cancelled.
Glad you are back safe on shore.

Elizabeth City made the news. Local Coast Guard helicopter pilots and a rescue swimmer rescued 14 people from the tall ship HMS Bounty (replica). Unfortunately 1 died and the captain is still missing.
Otherwise, things were not too bad here. North of us in Hamton Rhodes area got it worse.

Yes, I saw the photo taken by the Coast Guard of the Bounty sinking. Such a shame about the missing capt and the crew loss.

@ Kim - How did your home & garden do through Sandy? We only had some downed trees around the neighborhood but no damage to our property. Plus, our power was only out for 14 hrs.

That is a shame! It still surprises me about all the lost lives considering all the warning they had. We just can't control all situations!

We had just a little leakage from one window. There were a few polycarb panels missing from my greenhouse. DUH! Initially I thought this wasn't bad - then I remembered there was a lot of stuff I'd put in there (like the heater, peat pots, etc.).
Guess this means I have to FINALLY getting around to building a glass greenhouse.

I wonder how greenhouses made with plastic over them fared? Have you seen any around?

My little pop plastic greenhouse up came through like a champ but I not only had the ground stakes, but I tied it to the deck. I did lose a few shingles on the roof. Our max winds were only about 60-65 MPH though.
