Hey all...very new to all this...but looking forward to getting started. Is October a bad month to start? We have very mild winters here in North Louisiana. I'm starting with just a 4x4 square.

Thanks in advance!

I'm a (west central) Louisiana newbie too (started last February), but with our mild winters, you can plant lettuces, spinach, carrots, brocholi (sp?), cabbage, and more. You may have to cover most of them on frost nights, but I think Fall will usually be better than spring for us. By the time the plants were available at the farm and garden place, it was to hot for some of the plants a few weeks later.

Hello fellow Louisianian, I'm here in the south east. I don't think there is a bad time outside of the middle of summer for gardening, and we get to grow something year-round. My squares hardly ever go empty!

What to plant and when, also gives known good cultivars
