I'm taking the online Teaching Certification course that begins Sept. 4th, Woohoo.
Plan to start teaching introductory classes at local libraries, then continue classes at my home. It will be a good time to get people learning and especially starting their compost heaps for spring planting.

Cheyannarach - You have lots of company!

Belinda said they found Many people froze up at the video portion and delayed certification. In class we have cameras so we see her and vice-versa. I understand we will do our little teaching part of the class online too. I'm camera shy to begin with so I'll probably make funny faces and giggle my way through it. But the entire class will take just 3 short weeks. If anyone wants to join us (and laugh at me too!) sign ups are accepted through tomorrow Friday the 31st.

since the online certification program is new i can't speak directly to that. i can tell you how i made my certification video: i got my gardening club to let me do a presentation on SFG, and one of the members video taped it using my cell phone. Smile the club meets in a member's home, rotating at each meeting, and on the day i did my presentation we were in a TINY living room, kids were EVERYWHERE, and because it was my cell phone the image quality was, let us say, "modest". the main things they are looking for are: do you know the material? can you present it coherently? you can't really learn things like public speaking without doing it, but it is possible to see potential.

Thanks for the tips Roweena. Think I'll do a little pre-class preparation. Mels book often seems to contain tidbits of overlooked info so with all this rainy Isaac weather this weekend the timing is good for some indoor pleasure reading.
