Finally getting back into SFG...
Got my boxes built and all my materials, et al., but then got distracted last year with home school, moutain biking, losing weight, et al...
Anyway... I'm back at it again... I'm in the middle of BOTH raising part of the backyard to create a platform to put my boxes/walkways on, AND digging out 8" of dirt across the entire front yard (t0 re-grade, add an irrigation system, and replace with consistent/proper lawn soil... I'm going to use a modified Mel's mix).
I do have an update... Finally got my water well drilled... It's awesome. 255 feet deep and a 25 foot screen in a 40+ foot sand formation. So much natural water pressure, the water comes up the casing to about 30 feet below ground level.
Anyway, I'm going to start a new thread to illustrate my entire garden build-up.

Welcome back. Please start posting before and after pictures so we can see the changes you made. A well is sure to make getting enough water to your garden easier. Are you going to expand a lot?

I'll intro and caption all images... my standard practice.
The well is so sweet to have... It's primary purpose is prepping, but it'll really reduce my water costs, as our parish recently TRIPLED our rates.
I have a master plan partially on paper and in my head to utilize every bit of open ground in my yard for some sort of gardening... Eventually, I hope to completely eliminate all turf grass from the yard, in favor of edible landscaping and some limited ornamental only stuff...

Not much to see yet... The pics that are here pretty much just demonstrate the huge task of getting the plot raised before I can get started... I WANT to get at least one box going... but it looks like it's going to take me the better part of Fall/Winter to get all the dirt moved...
Anyway... here is where all the updates will be posted:
