Broccoli stealing sunshine
Okay, so I planted two broccoli plants in the middle of my 4x4. Planted corn on the north side, thinking that surely it would be fine since corn would get tall before the broccoli. Well, now the broccoli is very tall and the corn that is in the very next square is looking like it is a dwarf. Would it be okay to cut some of the lower leaves that are encroaching on the corn square?

I had the exact same problem as never grown brocolli before. Planted it in the middle and the leaves were WAY over the adjacent square crowding out my new chives and basil.
Just kept cutting the bottom leaves off and harvested all my brocolli last week. Now I got the same problem with my cabbage and cauliflower.
Is it best to plant them in the fall????
