It's OK! The natural life cycle. Go ahead and use it without worry. They'll fly away.

Your welcome. Totes are fine, I save big yellow containers of kitty litter to store my homemade compost in the garage or shed. In Mel's book I believe he mentions saving compost in large plastic bags. So you could store it in used mulch bags and any other store bought used compost bags, etc. And yes, moist is good, helps preserve the life of the biologicals in there. Here is another experience, I opened up a bag of 1 year old Scotts lightweight soil mix to use for flowers in my window boxes. It was stored in the garage and to my surprise it still had loads of red worms in it. Later I'll find out how the microscopic good guys do, since I just put up window boxes yesterday. But already the flowers look 100% better. At least for the short term all seems fine.

Over in the Wilmington area I found a compost called Dr. Campbells at the Farmers Supply. Also Moo-nure from either Lowes or Home Depot. I thought I saw one by Scotts that was humus and turkey litter. Worm castings are available at an organic place that specializes in Hydroponics. See if there is such a place in your area. Go out into the woods and dig down under some hardwood trees. The leafmold below the leaves and above the hard dirt is a natural good compost. Do you have turkey farms in your area. If so, see if they have a pile of shed cleanings. (this might need further composting, but could be a great start for your own compost pile.)
