Re: So confused, why won't my pile ever heat up
I recently read "Mike McGrath's Book of Composting". Although he's a little quriky, there's a lot of good information in the book.

I was able to find it at my local library
I use mostly horse manure in my compost pile with some coffee grounds (free from Starbucks for the asking), dry leaves and kitchen scraps. The pile gets really hot and steamy and makes nice compost. It is a bit of work to turn the pile though. I also have a tumbler that I made, but that doesn't seem to be working as well as the pile.

Starbucks
Whenever I have trouble getting my compost to heat up, I just go to Starbucks and get as many bags of their used grounds as I can. Add it to the pile and within a few days it is steaming hot.
