While I've been using SFgardening for about 5 years, I didn't realize there was a forum, until recently.

The main reason that I went to raised beds was our local soil (mostly shale) was too difficult to dig. The top 3-4 inches is nice soil and then the rock begins.

Anyway - SFG made sense and I built my 6 raised beds to 4'x8' with SFG in mind.

Hope to learn lots.
