Hello! I'm Lydia from Hendersonville, TN and this is my first attempt at SFG. I have wanted to have a garden since we bought our house 6 years ago and never had time. I received an offer in the mail for the book, but after visiting this forum, I realize that what I got was the old book! Another MidTN newbie!! Icon_evil No wonder I had no idea what you meant about the five sources of compost and many other things! So I am returning this old book and am getting the new one.

My son and I built our first 4 x 4 box last night and put it in the front where I spent hours of the last few days, carefully laying out where I will put everything. I'm so glad that there are other Mid-TN people here--I don't feel so alone in this! Another MidTN newbie!! Icon_biggrin

I look forward to talking with everyone here and hopefully having a very successful garden!

Welcome. It sounds like you already saw that there are several of us in the Middle Tennessee area. Be sure to keep an eye on the Middle South Regional Forum here for things pertaining to our region and climate.

Happy gardening and I am sure you will love it. I had some great results my first year and my thumb was only a pale yellowish green then.

Welcome! You'll love it here. I'm down around Chattanooga, which isn't exactly mid TN but SE TN, but it's the closest I could find on here. Where is Hendersonville?

Hendersonville is an outer suburb of Nashville. It is 20 or so minutes North of Nashville.

Hi all, especdially Middle Tennessee
I got the new SFG book at Sam's club last week. Hubby is kindly building my boxes today! I am excited. Hope to find vermiculite... I see it is harder to locate than Peat or compost. I live close to both Worm's Way and The Coop on Dickerson Rd. Has anyone found out the cheapest source to buy it?
I am excited to think "no digging, " "no weeds!"
Hope we can share together! Another MidTN newbie!! Icon_smile

Geoff at Worm's Way should have it. I got my 4 cubic foot bags from him for about $25. The CO-OP may be a few dollars cheaper but they often do not have it is stock, I would give them a call and ask.

Howdy and Another MidTN newbie!! 396615

Worms Way Nashville 615-227-7261

and Tennessee Farmer's Co-Op have vermiculite. Also try your local True Value Hardware.

God Bless, Ward.

Thanks for making me feel welcome. I will look at all three places recommended (Tru Value, Worm's Way and the Co-op).
