Hello all,

I live in the Las Vegas area. Here is my first plan for the fall/winter crop.

I am in the process of building a 11'x3' raised bed to go along side my 4x4 bed now.

currently I am growing tomatoes, basil, finishing kale and arugula.

Please tell me what you think. The garden runs width length north to south, which brick wall behind them to the east. The open spots will not get sun in mid winter so i left them open and will have compost working into those areas during the fall and winter.

Hi and glad you\'re here to the forum! It looks good so me but I can't read everything because it won't enlarge for me. I am a little confused about starting your winter crops. Are you just a really good plan aheader? That's deffinately going to be a nice roomy raised bed!!!

Thanks. I trying to redo picture. Sorry I'm new.

I am planning ahead because I feel I have missed the spring/summer season here. I am two weeks or more away from having this new bed finished. There are many plants/bushes that need to be cleared before this can proceed.

Therefore I am planning for first planting in late summer.

I will work on photo.

If it is the heat, a shade cloth should work. I know you can grow all summer in Vegas. Not sure why you are skipping it or am I completely misinformed?

Chopper,

I am skipping it mainly because I don't have the time and resources to complete this project in a timely fashion.

I do not think you are misinformed.

I started my current garden in the second week of march. I would like to plan ahead and not rush anything. I am new the gardening.

First SFG plan 396615 Hi Brent! I was able to read your plan a little better by using my zoom in feature, and I think you have a great starter garden for a fall planting! It sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you to get the bed ready, and I understand your wanting to make sure you have success your first go 'round!

We were getting everything ready during spring break the first week of April, and it was a huge rush to get things planted before the last recommended planting date. I didn't get my flower beds planted, but hopefully that will happen...just not with all the flowers I wanted to plant this year. Oh well, seeds will save for another year.

Anyway, good luck, and feel free to come back and ask questions as you get ready to plant!
