I have never had luck with strawberries and I've tried them so many
times. The closest I ever got was one fruit that was almost completely
ripe when someone (animal or human I don't know) snatched it up. And
this was one strawberry out of about 10 different plants I planted in a
small flower bed (not a raised bed and definitely not an SFG) and one in
a large container that was on a stand in the middle of that bed. I
think what I did wrong was I just sort of let them go wild, I still get
a lot of greens but no flowers or fruit because they just keep
sprawling. These were planted 3 or 4 years ago.

But I decided to
give it a go again, now that I know about Mel's Mix and other wonderful
things. I want to do them in pots to keep them a bit more contained
but I have some questions.

I bought 3 plants from home depot
today. One is a very full June-bearing plant in a hanging basket. The
other two are ever bearing seedlings.

I would rather not take up a
box with these but if they are in pots (I have lots of different sized
pots) would they survive and return next year or is it just a one time
shot when they are planted in containers?

There are already
flowers on the ever bearing seedlings, what should I do to ensure I get
some fruit this season (or do I need to wait for the second season to
see fruit)?

How should I treat my June Bearing plant after the harvesting season is over to help it survive for another year?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I don't have the answers to your questions, but we were just talking about strawberry planters in another thread - you might enjoy seeing what people have done...
