Hello From Southwest Florida!
Hi guys, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Patricia. I live in Southwest Florida. I am a college student and a lover of all things creative and crafty.
For the past several years I have been dealing with really bad health problems that kept me indoors most of the time. Now that my health is finally starting to improve, I thought to kick start it by spending as much time outdoors as possible, and to me gardening just seems like a great way to do this. Plus I love vegetables, so that's an added bonus.
Unfortunately, I decided to start my garden before reading Mel's book, so the raised bed I planted didn't really have much of a variety, I used the wrong soil, everything was planted by things that they didn't need to be planted by, I was over-watering, etc...all of the mistakes that newbies make. Luckily, though, all of my plants are still seedlings (some aren't even in the bed yet), so I plan on rectifying the soil issues while I can still easily transplant them.
I discovered this forum yesterday and lurked around on it pretty much all afternoon, then I bought Mel's book and stayed up late last night reading it. Now I am ready to actually garden, and I am looking forward to being a part of this awesome forum.

Welcome!!! I'm rather new here too, and in the week since I've joined I've learned more than I thought I ever would about gardening.. These folks here are serious about this stuff, and I'm glad to be a part!! Good luck with your soil transformation, I started a few posts on soil and finally feel like I have the hang of it!!!

Re: Hello From Southwest Florida!
Hi Patricia and welcome to the Forum.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
