guess its my turn now.
I have a slanted skylight that I can see from my bed in the AM and when it was completely covered with white this am I slowly went through were everyone was at for my garden...... OH NO>>>
I turned off the heat in the greenhouse, and the worms are out there.
It has been so warm lately
So the greenhouse looks fine, did not get below freezing.
The hoop house looks concerning, but as Eliot Coleman says, just wait until the sun warms it, so the spinach, cilantro and celery are all looking poorly but will wait a few hours to pass judgement.
THe perennials I grew in greenhouse do NOT LOOK VERY WELL, as I took off all their cloches yesterday when it was hot and did NOT put them back.
The artichokes which are outside look ..... com see comsaw.....

SHOOT.
My mother always said "if wishes were horses beggars would ride"
I WAS only wishing for NO frost....

I hope they all revive/ are really ok despite the shock etc....
Luckily my starts are still inside on the window sill. Unluckily the cats decided that was the perfect spot to watch the miserable cold robins clustered on the apple tree. Hopefully the broccoli is only feeling flat and is not broke...... Mad

I resisted putting my tomatos, peppers and basil out even though the weather has been above normal and in the 40s at night. I carefully waited until after the Mar 30 average frost date. Temps were in the 70s on Thurs so I finally planted 2/3 of the tomatos, the sweet peppers, and some basils. Thurs night a cold rain came through and last night it dipped to the mid 30s. Tomatos look ok, but the peppers and basil are not happy. Will just have to wait. Still have some tomatos, basil and hot peppers in the greenhouse.

One thing I have discovered over the years is that tomatoes are hardier in the spring than peppers, so can make it earlier.
And that peppers are hardier in the fall, they are still out there long after the tomatoes have withered on the vine.
and Basil is just WIMPY .... period!

We had another killer frost last night, but supposedly after that we do not have any freezes on the forecast for at least a week.
Just long enough for me to get all my tomatoes into the ground Smile

I may try a few tomato plants in the hoop house this weekend.

same here
every night it has gotten 5 degrees colder than the prediction, I wonder if perhaps they need to do some.... adjusting....
Now the forecast is for lows well above freezing for the next week, hard to know whether to believe.
I had a tomato plant fall on the floor in the greenhouse and so I have chosen it is my "sacrificial tomato",,, the one to go into the hoop house first. lots o
I am afraid to even look in there today.

My mother sacrificed one for me behind the washer and dryer while we where on vacation. Very Happy Guess she didn't set it on the window sill just right and off it went Shocked Gave the wife and I a good excuse to pull out the washer and dryer and give the area a good cleanin Razz

It's been awhile since we had a freeze here, and I took that for granted...I have the means to protect the plants, but didn't think it was necessary. Oh well, live and learn Rolling Eyes

My babies have still been all snug in the little house. But we are supposed to get some "close" (33° lol) freeze temps this week. killer frost 671790

Hubby is going to put his heater from his shed out there tomorrow after work. It has a thermostat so will run as needed lol..

He runs it all winter in his shed so he isn't fussing about a few days in the little greenhouse.
Even if it doesn't actually freeze the babies will enjoy it killer frost 889526

Last frost date isn't till May 5 so I have been just puttering around with planting. Have lettuce and radishes going but have a hoop to put up for them. Will just throw some plastic over it to protect from frost.

CindiLou ~ I have a few seeds in. I just couldn't stand it when it was so warm! It's been a beautiful Spring. I'll be patient. Glad your plants will be warm and cozy this week!

We are supposed to get down to 30F tonight with the next 2 nights in the 20's. I was planning on getting my potatoes and some carrot seeds in the ground, but all I got done was cleaning out the bindweed and wild mint in my last 3 beds before I whacked off the tip of my finger Shocked yesterday while slicing some of my Egyptian Walking Onions for a stir-fry (NOTE: fingertip easier to find among green onions than if I had still been chopping the chicken...) At least it will slow me down so I don't get so antsy to get stuff out in the garden when we can still have killing frosts.....killer frost 1280598131

sheesh GG that definitely puts a gardener behind.
I know what you mean ....trying to FIND the LOPPED off fingertip.

Not something you want to share with guests.

The lows here are supposed to be WELL above freezing for the next week anyways. for what its worth.

My sacrificial tomato plant that went into the hoop house last night is hardly recognizable that it ever existed.....
