We use commercial dishpans for cat litter boxes. Well, today, while scrubbing one out and then putting it in the sun to dry, I just realized it's PERFECT for sfg! it's a little more than 1 foot wide, but it's almost 2 feet long. . . and the height is 6" they are sold in 2 packs at GFS and other places. When I next do errands, I will find out the current price and buy a package for my front landing. I'll drill some holes in the bottom and put it on a piece of wood so there's lots of air flow under the pan - as it's on concrete.

sounds like an excelent idea although i hope your cats are not indoor/outdoor cats? they may think you just gave them new "sqauting" grounds outside might want to be carefull there. but if they are you could always make them the happiest kitties on the block and plant some cat nip and cat grass in there for them. I use anything I can get my hands on. I have a cabbage growing in a 1 gallon milk jug. I have wild flowers growing in my empty plastic coffee jugs. I have 1 tomato and 2 brussel sprout plants in an 18"x6"x6" window sill planter. And last but not at all least............drum roll please.............an un-used bed pan from when I was in the hospital a few years ago has a tomato plant in it. It is 10"x8"x6". Not exactly SFG material but any port in a storm. Dishpan! Fresse
