Hello,
We have about 3-4 cu feet of Mel's mix available in Boerum Hill Brooklyn. We've used it in containers on our roof for 2 seasons. We're moving to California and are prohibited from taking it with us due to CA regulations. We don't want to see it go to waste!

Please post if you're interested and we'll figure a way to connect.

Happy gardening!

How wonderful. I hope your move goes EXTREMELY smoothly.

I bought half a yard of compost locally and it filled the trunk and back seats of a 2003 Buick Century. Not sure how many bags. They were not full because of weight.

For 3-4 cu ft, I'd take 6 plastic bags because of the weight.

1 cu ft of compost weighs about 50lbs, 3.8 cu ft of peat weighs about 40-50 lbs because I can just barely lift it. Vermiculite is about 20 lbs for 4 cu feet. It will help if it has dried out. Water is heavy.

Why, because of weight or dirt? If dirt, double bag it. The amount offered should fit into the trunk. If weight, you are talking about approximately 5 bags of store bought compost. Ask him, he might surprise you.

After I unloaded you would not have known a half yard of compost had been in the car. No spillage.

but I'd be transporting it 100 miles with two 75 pound dogs next to it. he would die if I stored it in the apartment. I love him and he lets me keep things that really gross him out (worms) so I compromise. He fenced my garden which before the "real" fence had 6 4x4 beds and now has 4 4x16 beds with room for about another 100 sq ft. So, I compromise. what can I say?

I completely understand! Neat and Tidy DH practically hyperventilates when I use 'his' pick-em-up truck to haul my manure finds - and it is an '85! As soon as I get the poop scooped out he is antsy for me to get it to the car wash to de-stink it! A small price to pay for him letting me have my garden, ESPECIALLY since he does not understand how anything outside and dirty can be fun! Must be true love!

Just call us Oscar & Felix!

I am interested in your mels mix if it is still available. I live on long island and would be glad to take it. Could you tell me it you still have it and if so what did you put into the mix?

Thanks
