I did it again!
I really shouldn't go to the feed store this time of year. Went to get chicken feed today...."accidentally" came home with 3 more chicks I just can't help myself!

So cute! Some folks I know raised pheasants last year. They were pretty happy with those birds. Do you have any other birds beside chickens?

I'm probably better off raising worms....
They're much easier for the ignorants like me to manage. Too bad I've got to drive an hour south to get free range eggs.

I know the addiction well. We used to have over 200 at one time when we lived in the county but since we moved to town we can't have any and I really miss them.

Just the various ducks on our pond, which aren't really "ours" (but we feed them sometimes). My husband wanted to raise turkeys, but we couldn't find chicks for a reasonable price. Think of it this way.. You'll never be an empty nester when you get new chicks every year .
I kind of said that to Alison ..... that I was , " Thinking of get a new chick this year " ... Her reply is unprintable
All joking aside I just love the smell of new day old chicks .. as a kid we had 2,000 of them each year on our small holding /farmstead.
There was much excitement as we unpacked the boxes from the hatcheries and tried to sort out which were the cocks or hens . Nowadays it mostly already done for you by specialaists at the hatchery

Not a 'specialist' by any means, but that was one of the jobs I was trained at on the goose farm during hatch........how do you put THAT on a resume? I love the little fuzzballs on hatch day as well!
