Hi everyone! I just posted a question in the planning forum but wanted to say hello as well. Smile This is my second year gardening and my first year of gardening intentionally. Wink I found Mel's SFG book in my grandmother's book collection, and original copy from 1981. Hopefully not too much has changed in 30 years. Laughing

I live in NW middle Tennessee and I'm still trying to figure out which region that is - it seems to be right on the line. I'm enjoying reading through the posts on here - so glad I found this site!

Well actually a lot has changed. Ten big changes as I recall. Mel Bartholomew wrote a much improved method. Search out the All New Square Foot Gardening book. The 2006 edition. If you click on the home page above in the green toolbar, then can click on the picture of it. It is available probably everywhere in bookstores. It seems to me libraries often have a waiting list for it. Many of us, if not nearly all, refer to it often. If you want to do things right the first time, I would give you a friendly nudge to own the newest version and enjoy Mel Bartholomew's friendly and sensible way to garden.

As for which region you in, no problem, it is a loose guide, consider yourself part of both till you get a feel for your particular area. For planting dates for example, call your coooperative extension service at your nearest state agriculture college, or your nearest garden nursery or greenhouse manager.

If you have a Kindle or Nook the EBOOK version is $9.99 from Amazon. Even if you don't have an e-reader, you can download the kindle for PC app for free and buy a copy to be delivered directly to your computer.

There have been big changes and the new version is soooooo much easier.

Hello from Clarksville, TN! 654548 to the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge at all levels available here.
