Thank you Mellen; it took me a long time to realise that on this Forum we are not only talking to the other posters, but the unseen guests who look in over the years.

PS  I sincerely hope that there will be many more years for me to post as I really enjoy it.  I used to be the quiet mouse who never spoke up and was extremely shy and blushed if anyone looked at me.  I am now what might be called a "Late Developer".  I missed a lot of fun in my life but I am making up for it now.

CC, a thank you from PAL's Mom. This long day (32 hours) is nearly over and I am about to retire to bed with a good book by Ken Follett "The Pillars of the Earth", the only book he wrote that is outside his usual genre.

It may sound funny, but I have the awful feeling that I may have broken the small toe on my left foot.  Scurrying around late this morning getting ready to go out to lunch, I was in bare feet and bumped into a chair leg.  It hurt, but I dismissed it after letting out a rude word that sent the cat diving under the bed, but I finished dressing and though no more about it.  When I put on my shoes, it hurt a bit but I thought that would soon wear off.  Afterwards, on arriving home I fell asleep and waking up found that my small toe had swollen and was very painful and  even putting on a large sock hurt. 

I hope I can sleep. but will update in the morning.  Keeping fingers crossed and foot protected and that the cat does not decided to jump on my foot and  that it is only bruised.  I have placed a smallish foot-sized box in the bed and that is where I hope to protect that d----     toe.

Ouch!  Little toes live on the "edge", never knowing when they will get caught on something.  One of my sons said that one of his toes has been caught so many times that it has its own zip code.  Just tape your toe to its neighbor.  Even if it is broken, that is all the doctor will do.

Well, sanderson, good news is that I don't think it is broken, just bruised and swollen.

Last night my foot was in its foot-sized box under the covers and Pal was in his box on top of the covers.  He obviously knew there was something different and he stayed in his own box all night and did not wander all over the bed as his often does.

My little toe now reminds me of a cooked cocktail sausage.

I hope the swelling will subside quickly otherwise I will be housebound, but I reckon a couple of days; no problem as it is snowing again for the next seven days.

Good friends fried chicken red beans and rice with plenty cold beer Happy birthday to me.

My sibs took me out today for lunch, rather than Friday, so we could have meat.     El Rosal in Visalia has great Mexican food!

I love birthdays! When I was a kid, my parents had to have HALF birthday parties for me as well as the regular ones, lol!

Funny you should say that.  One of the ladies I used to work with had half-birthday's for her children.  We at the office really liked that, because she would bake a cake, cut it in half, and bring the non-birthday half to the office.  

ANY excuse for cake, lol! But, of course, cake only exists to hold up the frosting... At least that's what my dad always said... (insert emoticon with fork in hand here)
