Overwintering onions?
I'm really curious about overwintering some onion sets this winter, but the problem is, I don't really know anything about them. I've only kind of head here and there about them. I don't even know if they'll work in my zone (5a).
Does anyone have any info on overwintering onions and what varieties to use? The only thing I really know is that my Egyptian walking onions are good for overwintering, but I'd also like to try something else.

Last year, I grew from seed onion sets and I'm doing the same this year. At the end of the growing season, I lifted the wee onions, cured and stored them and then planted them again this spring. It may be too late in our area to grow your own sets from seed.
Second the multiplier onion suggestion. I hope there are some still available in a month when I actually have some cash.
