Whopping crop despite Septoria leaf spot
I have picked 30 gallons of roma tomato off of 8 plants despite the plants being completely destroyed (not a leaf left ). Some aren't as big as they could be but I honestly thought that I wouldn't get any. WooHoo!!!

Re: Whopping crop despite Septoria leaf spot
That's what I love about tomatoes. Disease is a relative thing.

I also had a great harvest from my Romas. They're all burned out now, of course, and full of leaf spot. But even so, they produced!
We've had such a wonderful tomato harvest from the SF beds, DH and I are wondering if maybe our problems growing in-ground tomatoes in previous years were due to nematodes. I never saw obvious nematode damage to the roots, but the plants were always SO much more vulnerable to disease that maybe nematodes were present in sufficient number to weaken.
So I'm glad we built our boxes with bottoms! If we do have nematodes out there, hopefully it will take a number of years for them to find their way into the mix.
We are thoroughly enjoying the roasted tomato sauce we made with the Romas!
