ok, so when it comes to leaf lettuce that is harvestest throughout the season, how big does it need to be b4 removing leaves? also how many can safely be plucked (cut) with out killing it. pictures are good as i learn better by seeing but just explaining works good also.

and since i'm here, the same questions for my dill, mints and other herbs. i have choc mint, lemon balm, greek oragano, cilantro (i think- bought it @ a farmers market and cant remember if its cilantro or basil lettuce (and herb) questions Icon_redface )

Hi,
You will need to work hard to kill off the mint, lemon balm and oregano. You can start picking any time the plant has 6 leaves or more. Cut the top off, the plant will grow two stems from the place where you cut. Before it is too late, I hope you have tired to contain the the 3 herbs above. They are all members of the mint family and very aggressive. I cannot answer your questions about the dill and cilantro, as they both bolted here due to heat. Enjoy your herb garden.
