This is the best my Bok Choy have ever gotten before being attacked by bugs. I thought I had "baby" Bok Choy, but it turns out they're actually "adult" Bok Choy. The camera doesn't capture the way the morning sun makes the stems glow.

What variety? It looks like one of the "toy" choys, which I have grown to prefer over the common big green bok choy. This was the first winter I didn't grow any.

I think it is Purple Lady Bok Choy, and based on those pictures I should be harvesting now. My modus operandi with most leafy things is to take the outer leaves as I need them, so I harvest over a couple weeks instead of all at once.

I also harvest outer leaves. In your delightful climate, they may bolt early at this time of the year. They may extend longer in your "winter." This winter was so warm, that even up here in Fresno, with 2 days of freeze, caulifower went straight to flower.

Kohlrabi, at least this purple variety, starts to grow secondary bulges after the first year. Why did I let it go so long? Well, for awhile it was the best looking thing in the box ...

My dream was to have front yard boxes that would be at least somewhat attractive but also grow food. This plan hasn't worked out as well as I planned, but this year I have hope.

In this picture are 3 tomato plants, two cauliflowers, 4 squash plants, kohlrabi, onions, peas, lemon grass, and lots of nasturtium. Behind everything as a back-drop are walking stick kale. We'll see.

You're way ahead. The Cherkokees I planted this year are only doing foliage. I do have a lot of green Snow Fairies coming along. I also have some sad, stunted ground cherries that technically have husks -- I didn't have a square for them in time!

Much like cucumbers do. One time I look and seed a one-inch cucumber and make a mental note that it has to be watched. The next time I look at it, it is 8" long! How did it do that? Shocked

Last weekend I had an "Asian salad" that had raw zoodles. It was rather refreshing. I know the dressing had a lot to do with it being tasty but I could do a lighter version.

Mix of Snow Fairy and Cherokee Tomatoes that will go into dinner's lentil soup. My daughter, home for the Summer, says she could eat the Cherokees like candy.
