TD, what do they tell you about the urinary problems?  Are they temporary, I hope?

The radiation oncologist says it is caused by inflammation resulting from the radiation. For most men it is temporary but may take weeks or months to improve. I'm on something called Flomax for the flow and Advil for the pain. Sorry if that is too much information. 😀

Can you take probiotics and cranberry juice to offset the side effects?

Not sure probiotics would do anything. Would have to ask about Cranberry juice while doing RT. Can't use heating pad in that area while doing RT because the radiation injures the skin on the abdomen.  So it's grin and bear it.

TD, If it's TMI for some folks, they can just breeze through your posts. If anyone else has to under go the same treatments, they have an idea of how the process may affect them. Are you using plain Aloe Vera for the sunburn?

Back in my younger life, I would continually get urinary problems.  The doctors would always prescribe cranberry juice.

The 100% cranberry juice is a tasty and benign, may help but can’t hurt.

Actually no sunburn to speak of yet. They said to expect it after two weeks. So the "fun" may start this coming week. They Today recommended  Glaxol Base moisturizing Cream for the skin.

I feel tired and spaced out today. Did manage to take Mrs TD for a little drive. Then came home and got the lawn mower ready for winter storage. Now zonked.

It looks like Canadian Glaxol Base is the same as U.S. CeraVe that I used.

TD,
That bladder reaction is a "good" sign- can you imagine how your prostate's reacting to the direct hit of therapy rays? I'ts taking a direct hit, and that cancer is not going to like it. The lining of the bladder is real sensitive to radiation, but it is the quickest tissue to bounce back. It heals fast, but never fast enough if there's pain involved, so hang in there.

I'll take it as a positive then.  Very Happy

No bum wagging in the breeze for me. I don't have to change. I lie on the table. They put small  cloth over mid section. Then I try to lower my jeans and underwear without dropping the cloth off the table 😀. They then position the cloth to expose the area to be treated. Not sure how many young lady therapists I have flashed during the whole process. 😀
