Fairy tale eggplant
Hey guys,
I'm growing some fairy tale eggplant and it seems to be doing really well. A small plant, but lots of fruit set.
Trying to figure out when it's time to harvest them though. Most of my online searches come up with when to harvest big Italian eggplants. I believe the size is right, as it's supposed to get between 2 and 4 inches long, and mine are between 2 and 3 inches or so. Besides size, how do you tell if they are ripe? I did notice my biggest went from a bright purple to a somewhat paler / duller purple.
Anybody have experience with this variety?

I decided to go for it. We grilled them. Pretty good! A little bland, but not bitter at all.

I picked one tonight, threw it into the curry. It was a couple inches long but seemed ripe, purple with white streaks. My plant is not doing well. I think it has spider mites. I sprayed it tonight. The other eggplants are suffering but not as severely.

Re: Fairy tale eggplant
I have 1 decent sized eggplant on it right now that'll be ready in a week or so. The other blossoms in that batch had fallen off due to the heat I think. I've lost a few more blossoms that I thought were going to bear fruit. Definitely have 4 eggplants on right now, with about 3 or 4 blossoms that look like they should produce, but haven't reached the sure thing stage yet.
