Thanks in a large part to you folks back in September we planted our first ever garlic patch.  Well here it is start to harvest.  I think we did great for a first try and would like to hear what yall think.  Is 99 heads a good haul for 4x4??

Thanks guys it went pretty well for a first try and we were thrilled we worked the old bed good and put in some wormy compost from under our garbage plant and kinda forgot about it.  We were worried when we got home cause it looked poorly.  We didn't realize it was telling us to pick it.

Nice result from your first try, Cappy.  I see from your blog that some one has mentioned saving the  biggest cloves for replanting.

I have done that for the last three years and the cloves are really getting nice and large now.  Mine are hardnecks and I started off with four bulbs locally grown, and now I have enough to replant, eat some and share.

Really nice looking garlic...99 heads per 4 foot bed is around 6 per sq if I'm correct.
I did 4 per square this season to see if heads became larger than previous years.
As far as that threading...I just tie mine with twine...Always something else to do...
