Onion Question

I planted some onion bulbs that I had gotten from the feed store in October. I pulled one up the other day to see what it was doing (lol) and they look like green onions. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, do these turn into regular onions if left in the soil?

You can plant the green onions and you'll get regular onions at the end of this season. They are ready when half the tops turn brown and start falling over.

That's what they did in our Community garden last year.

I think it really depends upon what type of onion was planted.

If the right kind of onion was purchased, they should bulb up as the days get longer. Usually, if bought local, they only sell the right kind for your area.

I think for Texas they would have to be short day onions.
