Onions Dying
I am new to this so I am probably doing alot wrong. About a month ago I started 48 onions from seed. I used the burpee self watering with the tablets. I have them under 16 hours of light as read here. Lately a couple have begun to die and shrivel up to nothing in a day. There seems to be some whitish mold on the soil and I am assuming I am keeping things to wet. I think this system suggests watering once or twice a week yet every time i check the tray is out of water. Many seem to be doing good but if i loose one or two a day i wont have much left. Do they need a little fertilizer? Bigger pot (transplant), a fan for some air, or just les water?

It sounds like they're over-wet. If the soil is dry beneath the surface, I'd rewater, but otherwise not. I'm not familiar with the system you have. Does it have a cover? Is the cover still on?
A fan blowing on them could help, as would perhaps cutting back on the water. They should be kept uncovered once they've sprouted.

Who knows? too wet? too dry? fungus? lack of light? It is a mystery. Most of my onion seedlings crapped out too. I think I will try one more time with seed and if they give up the ghost again I will just go with sets.
