is thinking of your neighbors non-SFG as a trap crop wrong? crop rotation - Trap crops 27650

Ok night owl what is a trap crop. I may be 70 and have lived and gardened in Fl too but that is a new one on me.

Trap crops are when you lure pests away from your garden by planting their favorite thing far but not too far from garden. A trap crop is a plant that attract insect pests away from nearby crops. This form of companion planting can save the main target of agriculture from decimation by pests without the potential issues and controversey involved in using pesticides. Twisted Evil

Are you saying you were growing the trap. I have been feeling that way a little latley, what with the aphids,mealy bugs, and florida leaf footed bugs. Organic gardening sure is not easy here in the warm sunny south.

No.

Picking off the leafminers and hornworms and slugs and taking them over to their non-SFG - now that's wrong!

OH, they are nice enough. I moved a pot of toms yesterday and found 3 giant ivory millipedes used a tomato stake to relocate them golf style to the vacant area between us. Man here you can weigh the bug on a bathroom scale they are so big. Oh, and those buggies roll realy well. Very Happy
