With fall here I was wondering how garlic plants can be grown in each square?

There is a good discussion about planting garlic here: https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/general-sfg-talk-f5/planting-garlic-t4107.htm

Good luck with your garlic (I'm still waiting for mine to arrive), and welcome to the forum! glad you\'re here

I plant 9 per square. 16 is just a little too crowded for me. That said, I have started planting one garlic bulb in corners of squares - where the lathe or string criss-crosses - since garlic supposedly is a good companion plant for almost anything.

I do 5 per square in a dice pattern for regular garlic and 2 at a diagonal for elephant to get the largest bulbs. This year I'm going to try 3 per square for elephant to see how that works -- an upright triangle in one square and upside down in the adjacent (not sure that makes sense). That will space the plants at 8-9". I'm also going to place some regular garlic in squares throughout the main garden for protection next spring when I'm planting spring/summer veggies. If I'm not careful, I'll end up the queen of garlic! Very Happy
