Re: check out these sprouts
Isn't it fun to watch things grow?! Even more fun to eat it! You've done a lot of work in a short amount of time and your SFG looks so nice. You'll be ahead now when next spring 2011 rolls around.
We're all keeping an eye on hurricane Earl. I assume Chapel Hill is away from the coast? Are you getting any rain or wind from the storm?

Yes, we are about 2 hrs from the coast. But as of right now, the NC beaches are clear skies and no rain. I guess it is a wait and see game for now. I hope we get some rain this weekend. It has been in the upper 90's and no rain for over a week here...not exactly the best conditions for cool weather crops.

Sprouts.....
Isn't this the greatest fun? Your pics tell a great story. Just wait until you can look back and share these with the kids when they are 15 or so. Happy Gardening and good luck with your sprouts.

ugh!
Came home today and the squirrels had dug up 4 of my squares!!!!!! I am going to look thru old posts to see what others have done and also brainstorm some ideas using the leftover deer netting I have. I looked at the domes in the SFG book, but would really like to figure out something that does not more money.

Re: check out these sprouts
When my spring seeds were sprouting, I tucked tufts of cat and ferret fur under my grid divider lines. (Not what you think... I use a grooming glove!!!) I had one or two tentative digs, which I think were by feral cats testing out the huge new potty, but the squirrels mostly left it alone.
Take that squirrels!
My precious sprouts are now protected! Crossing my fingers this works.
