made a plant light stand
I made my own plant light stand out of PVC pipe.
I used 1 inch PVC pipe, 2- 1 inch PVC elbows, 2- 1inch PVC T shape connectors, 4-1 inch PVC end caps, 1 standard 4 ft shop light, 2 eye bolts, and 2- 4ft plant grow lights.
The total cost was $43.58.

Nice work Josh. Looks like you got yourself a fully function, cheap light stand.

I was reluctant to look at this thread because it is hard for me to comprehend these DIY projects - a lack of proper logic paths I always figured - or I am simply slow - one of those. Anyway, one look at the pictures and I got it. Elegant in its simplicity. Thanks!
Re: made a plant light stand
Josh, as usual you did a great job with your tutorial. When I have some extra in my budget I think I'll buy some PVC pipe and connectors instead of using books and bricks to prop up my lights.

Hey Josh...Pretty cool set up. I like that you mentioned, "you can glue it", apposed to feeling like you have to. Being able to take it back apart for off season storage would be a handy feature....Great job!!

Nice one Josh .. I see you have the same " high quality " pipe cutter as me.
If your mum lets you drill plastic pipe in the lounge she's is worth a big bunch of flowers .. my lass would have wrapped the light stand & fittings round my head if I'd so much as bring the drill in the room

Good job Josh!
You remind me so much of my inventive and resourceful homeschooled kids, who use to come up with all kinds of fun things. They are now adults living away from home. I enjoyed your video and appreciate your sharing spirit. Go Josh.

Re: made a plant light stand
The shop light was 4 foot, so the top piece I made it 50inches long, that allowed a little space on each side of the light.
The side pieces for the height, I made 28 inches tall. It wouldn't have to be that tall for just starting seeds, but my mom wanted it that tall so she could use it to sit grown plants under it, that she brings inside during the winter, and when I'm starting seeds under it, I can lower the light down with the chains.
The 4 pieces I used for legs are 9 inches long.
Someone else, I've lost the post now, made one and made it two lights, my mom really liked that one too! They used shower curtain hooks to hang the lights instead of the eye bolts, that's a good idea, but then you wouldn't get to use the power tools!
plantoid,
Building in the living room was for video purpose only, if I had broken that light bulb when the pipe I was cutting hit it....it would have been in BIG TROUBLE!
It's really not hard to cut the pipe with the pipe cutter, but that one wasn't working right, I wanted to get the power saw out to cut it....but she said NO
