Well, most places are on the coast, but for those of us in the inland valleys and likely anyone at higher elevations it looks like we may have a few more nights of frost. I only have radishes and peas peeking out as well as the potato bits. Plus, they are spring plants so I will let them be. It will build character and hopefully sweetness.

Chopper, you make me laugh today while I sit inside watching 30mph gusts blow snow sideways in 20° weather with wind chills in the single digits. I already plowed snow for 3+ hours this morning and just got to the computer. Heck, my dog won't even go outside.

Ha ha. Being from Boston I understand completely. I left my tomato seedlings out last night accidentally and they seemed pretty happy this morning so it could not have been too cold. Hey, St Louis has some real weather, that is for sure.

When the kids were young if there was a storm out or hail or something the kids would yell, WEATHER! and run to the front porch to watch.

My daffodils are coming up, snow crocus is blooming, etc, so, while at the feed store I asked if he thought spring was here for us, ha. He just pointed to the calander and underlined January with his finger and laughed. Everyone thinks I'm crazy anyway. I went in last yr. and first wanted organic seed, then I only wanted like 20 seeds instead of a pound!. Jo

Dang, I thought we were done with frost Empty I feel Chopper's pain!

Post  lonewolfrissy on 3/1/2012, 11:41 pm

I'm only an hour or so away and I get shocked seeing snow on the mountains around us. but none has ever actually hit the ground. Closest is Banning. Now if I can just convince my boyfriend to let us gather scrap wood, rebuild a coop and I use the leftovers to create my boxes and to get the ingredients for Mel's mix.... I have stuff I can start growing! I can find some ingredients for Mel's mix in our pennysaver... and, I'm really happy to hear there are people in the inland empire that can offer advice! I have the desert where growing anything that's not a pine or cactus is a bit of a pain... Also it's rental property.... so anything that lets me pick up and go more or less is a good thing! Very Happy
