I am new to SFG but I have read about it and am extremely excited to begin gardening. I live in central Alabama with a family of 4. I can't wait to taste the first thing harvested from our garden. We are going to start making the beds this weekend. I have already planned what veggies/fruits we will be growing and can't wait to get planting.Cool

I see another addict in the making. I am sure you will have fun. SFG is made for success. It is so nice to have a vegetable garden that WORKS and is a cinch to clean up at the end. I am sure you will love it.

Staceypouncy, Welcome to the forum.

You said you have read about SFG, but do you have a copy of ALL NEW SPQUARE FOOT GARDENING, which was published in 2006? If not, be sure to pick up a copy and read it. It is such a great resource and full of lots of information to help you create the most productive and easy to maintain garden.

Before you fill those boxes, take the time to read the following thread right here on the forum HOW STRONG IS YOUR BACKBONE? It discusses how important it is to get FIVE sources of compost and tips on creating the best Mel's Mix ever. There is also information on what to look for in those bags of compost if you are unable to use your own homemade compost.

Please keep us posted on your progress. And again, Welcome!
