I have no idea how many bags would constitute a truck-load, and I have no idea how much the shipping would be, but I think the first question is if anyone is interested in participating in a truck load of Mel's Mix, if we could make it work.

Freight into New England from Ohio starts at just about $2000 and goes way up from there on a full truckload of 4 cu.ft. bags. Which is 1008 bags on 28 pallets. We don't have real good representation in N.E. you might be able to talk to Jeff Sheehy @ Whittemore Perlite who is also a manufacturer like myself. He might be able to help you find a distributor locally. Most of us Perlite expanders exfoliate Vermiculite also. The two go together like peas in a pod.

Here is Whittemore's contact info-

That's also just the freight charges not including the 1008 bags of material. Since Vermiculite and Perlite are commodities it's always best to find a local manufacturer and/or Distributor (i.e. BFG, Commerce, Worms Way/ Bloomington Wholesale, Griffins, Wetsel, WH Milikowski or the like) and find a local retailer who can order it for you of has it on hand. Freight plays a large roll in retail pricing. Trucking is not cheap at all! Especially going East.

Here is something I looked up:
The 7 bridges in and around Manhattan --
In terms of traffic volume, it is the largest bridge and tunnel toll agency in the United States serving more than a million people each day and generating more than $900 million in toll revenue annually.
As a former Long Island gal I can only imagine how much fuel is wasted too sitting in hours and hours of traffic in that area.

Texas on the other hand.....

One place I don't think we have shipped horticultural products, at least since I have been in the office doing sales. Industrial and construction yes, never hort.

I would imagine your suppliers are either SunGro, A&B Industrial (LA.) or Therm-o-Rock West (AZ.)
