This is not good news. The way I understand it, if the rootworms are becoming resistant to the GM Bt corn and 65% of commercial corn growers are using this modified corn seed and the corn cross pollinates with, say the organic farmer's crop down the road, the Bt is not going to be effective on root worm in the organic crops. The organic farmer looses a valuable weapon in the effort to grow organic food. Just my $0.02.

So ... it's not so much that the corn is faulty or the bugs didn't exist before 2003 it's down to the stupidity of farmers growing single a species year on year in the same fields .... somethings never change .
