Sod in my compost pile?
I am in the process of ripping out my sod.......can I put it in my compost pile?
I've just started a small pile, but so far it's only veggie leftovers and peels and stuff like that....I dont' know if I'll be able to have a good compost pile without much "brown" ingredients. We dont' have mature trees here so I can't find leaves.
Not sure if the whole compost thing will work for us.
thoughts?

Re: Sod in my compost pile?
sod in compost-yes
If you have a convenient place for a compost pile, I recommend starting it now. You need to get started even though you can't visualize the way forward.
WardinWake has an incredible nose for free compost material. There's no telling what he might find next. Once you get started, you'll find yourself more aware of possibilities.
Kinda like, I never realized how many white cars there are on the road, until I bought one!

Re: Sod in my compost pile?
Just try to shake the extra dirt out of the sod if you can. That grass will add a lot of good nutrients into the pile....but it might make it harder to turn since it's heavy so try to break it up as much as possible.
