Zoo doo for stocking stuffers! Empty Zoo doo for stocking stuffers!

(Personally, I would leave it in the bucket!)

I saw on the news this morning that the local zoo is selling zoo doo for $20 for 4 gallons, and they are promoting it as a Christmas present!

What surprised me most is that they are selling it outright. For years, the zoo has had a lottery system to see who gets to buy some, because it's in such demand. I guess they got their inventory built up somehow.

Is that Woodland Park, boffer? Wasn't the lottery for free zoo doo, or minimal cost for you to haul it away? I thought so, anyway, but I wasn't gardening then, and my memory fails me often. sawing logs
At any rate, I guess they decided to make more money off of it. That's pricy poop!
Composted steer manure is only $25/yard here on the island.
OTOH, do you think zoo doo has enough "predator urine" to keep the deer away? Then it might be worth it!!!!!

Yes, it was Woodlawn Park. Here's the lowdown on the semi-annual Fecal Fest. (that is what they call it!)

So, doing the math, there are 202 gallons in a cubic yard, so 50.5 buckets in the yard, @$20/bucket, that's $1010 per yard. Now that's what I call really shoveling the s***. Razz

According to the link, they'll sell you a pint for $4.99! So that would be
8 x 202 x $4.99 = $8,064/y.

That should buy quite a few refills for the bins!

So, apparently the predator pee is not included, since this is from herbivores only. I had no idea that the zoo was such an efficient recycler!

I just sent an email to the nearest zoo down in Norfolk. No mention of "Zoo Doo" or the like on the page. Hopefully they'll part with some poop for gardening (I can only imagine the looks on their faces when they read I want to buy some zoo poo - Shocked affraid  Zoo doo for stocking stuffers! 601593 are all reactions I've considered).

I know (for those near the Hampton Roads) you can get free poo at the Bluebird Gap Farm in Hampton. You'll end up with a mix of cow, horse, donkey, goat, sheep & chicken. Its free, all you have to do is tell the rangers you'll be driving in to pick up & they'll point you to the pile! (Sorry, won't let me post a link for a week ... I'm assuming anti-spam measure.)

If they do offer it down in Norfolk I'll let y'all know. I'm also sending an email to the zoo up in Richmond to see if they have any on offer. I'm even willing to drive to DC to get it from the National Zoo if I can't find it around here.
